Beds = Lives Changed...
That may seem like an odd statement, but at Camp Northward it couldn’t be more true! The number of lives changed each summer at Camp Northward is directly tied to the number of beds we have for campers to sleep in.
The challenge: Growing camper numbers! What a great problem, right? Last summer we had more than 400 campers, and some of our sessions were very close to maxing out. This past fall we had to turn campers away from our Middle School Retreat. We don’t ever want to turn a camper away from the opportunity to have their life changed by Jesus.
The Answer: Ultimately, we need a new dormitory. That is in the works, but isn’t feasible as an immediate solution. In the mean time, where can we put more beds? The answer to that question is: in our current meeting rooms in Cedar Lodge. By doing so we will be able to increase our camper numbers from 46 per session to 68 per session; an almost 50% increase!
The need: As with everything else these days, the cost of 12 more bunkbeds will not be small. If you are involved with camp at all, you know that we have a growing list of financial needs. And while we hate to add one more thing to the list, “beds = lives changed”! This is an immediate, Kingdom-focused, Christ-centered need.
The Ask: Each bed will cost around $550. Would you or your family, congregation, Sunday school class, small group, or organization be able to help us impact more campers this summer by donating for this purpose? If each extra bed was filled for every session of camp this summer, that would equal 260 camper spots. That is 260 lives that could be changed. That is 260 campers that we can’t reach right now.
